A detox or de-toxification program (also called a cleanse) is the process of extracting, neutralizing and eliminating accumulated waste, pharmaceutical drugs, heavy metal, mucous, parasites, pus, lymph fluids, fungus, toxic chemical, poisons …from your body.
This waste can stagnate in your cells, fat, skin, muscles, and organs.
One of the best ways to prevent and even heal dis-ease is to keep ahead of the game by cleansing on a regular basis, like you would do your clothes or your dishes, to help the body in eliminating the build-up of toxins. Each one of us, need to find a way to create a sustainable way of cleansing for the rest of our life.
Here is a sample detox day to get you started:
Red smoothie breakfast: in a blender puree ½ cup coconut milk, ½ cup strawberries, ½ cooked beets, ½ banana, ¼ avocado, ½ cup water and 1 Tbsp chia seeds
Lunch salad: top 3 cups of mixed greens with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes. Dress with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and Himalayans salt.
Dinner soup: simmer sliced celery, carrots and fresh peas in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Add miso, sprouted tofu cubed and 2 Tbsp of quinoa.
