Chamomile is a good oil for the beginning of summer. It’s gentle and calming, good for happy times and will help you ease into summer.
Chamomile comes from a flowering plant that is in the member of the sunflower family. There are 2 types of chamomile:
- German Chamomile is a cool, deep blue color
- Roman Chamomile is a yellow–green color
Benefits of Chamomile essential oil
- Facilitate digestion
- Eliminates depression
- Reduces blood pressure
- Reduces muscles and joint pains
- Great antiseptic and antibiotic
- Removes scars and spots on the skin
- Help with skin sunburn
Chamomile with its calming and soothing properties is perfect to quiet the skin, emotions and high energy levels of early summer.
Recipes
Emergency light sunburn ointment miracle
- 3 drops Chamomile
- 3 drops peppermint
- Palmful of hand cream
Mix all together and apply it to the burn often
Caution, if the burn is serious, go to the emergency room!
Recipe for cooling toner
- 3 drops Chamomile
- 3 drops Clary sage
- 3 drops Geranium
- 6 drops Lavender
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 2 oz witch hazel
Mix the essential oils together with the vinegar and witch hazel in an 8 oz bottle. Add enough distilled water to fill the bottle. Use this toner morning and evening.
Relaxing bath
- 2 drops Cedarwood
- 2 drops Chamomile
- 2 drops Geranium
- 1 drop Lemon
- 2 oz of milk
Mix and pour this into the warm water and relax for 20 minutes.
Bedtime Spray and diffuser blend
- 12 drops Chamomile
- 12 drops Lavender
- 8 drops Orange
Mix the oils together with 16 oz of water. Let your kid use this blend to spray the air of his room and on the pillow of the soon-to-be sweet dream.
Keep calm with Chamomile
You might also want to invest in some Chamomile teas. These can help relax you, calm your stomach or help you sleep. A cooled Chamomile tea also makes a nice spray for hot or itchy skin. Add some to a potpourri because it has such a nice look.
